Athleisure is having a moment, I think we can all agree on that. It comes as no surprise to me due to how comfy this style is! I recently shot one of my go to looks and thought I would share it on the blog since it’s super easy to recreate!
What is athleisure?
I get it, fashion can be confusing. Athleisure isn’t even a real word, yet it seems to be everywhere. Athleisure is clothing that can be worn to work out and, at the same time, be worn as casual wear. Not confusing at all right? Essentially, if you look like you could either be at the gym, running errands or chilling at home all at the same time, you’ve nailed it.
Types of athleisure clothes
Okay lets talk about what types of clothing would be in an athleisure look. That’s the easiest place to start. Athleisure is created with leggings, hoodies, cotton tees, sneakers, baseball caps, cardigans, etc. Usually these looks are cotton based because you don’t want to work out in polyester. However, you can always bend the rules and have some fun. I’m clearly not going to work out in these faux leather leggings however, I would work out in the trefoil adidas tank. You can easily mix and match to create these looks.
My athlesiure look
I personally like to have fun with my athleisure looks! I like to mix and match materials and not stick to just cotton. When I put together an outfit, the first thing I think about is comfort. One of the comfiest things I own are these faux leather leggings. Next, since these leggings aren’t really gym friendly, I paired them with a tank I would work out in. This adidas trefoil tank is such a go to for me. It’s great quality and super stylish. Next, I added in a cardigan because 1) It’s fall and 2) I would easily wear this to the gym and then store it in a locker. Finally I topped the look off with street style sneakers.
As you can see, I mixed and matched athletic wear with comfy wear. That’s usually the approach I take when making an outfit however YOU don’t have to. Athleisure is anything you want to make it be.
