DRESS: Goodnight Macaroon (wearing S – runs small so size up!)| Shoes:Sam Edelman | Earrings: Baublebar
Is anyone else shocked that today is Thursday!? Where has this week gone…It’s been really busy at work, so the days have just been flying by for me! Tonight I’m speaking at the Blogit TO conference and could not be more excited! I cannot wait to meet some amazing bloggers, influencers and supporters! I’m going to be doing a blog post on all the tips and tricks I overhear throughout the conference, so stay tuned for that!
Today I’m talking about a fun topic, some people fear it, some people embrace it…it’s color! With summer just around the corner it’s time to pull out those vibrant tops, dresses and accessories you’ve been hoarding in the back of your closet! I have a bunch of pieces that I’m ready to break out myself, including this vibrant coral flare dress from Goodnight Macaroon!
Color can be a bit daunting, especially the more neon colors, however I’m here to offer some styling tips! Let’s get into it.
1. Pick your focal point
When I decide to wear bright colors I pick one item to be the focal point. Bright colors command attention, therefore they’ll be the first thing anyone looks at when they see you. With that said, I only wear one bright item at a time and leave the rest of the outfit neutral (beiges, whites, pastels etc.) In the look above, the dress is the focal point and all of my accessories are in neutral tones
2. Start small and work your way up
If you’re someone who isn’t completely comfortable in color start small! I would start with bright earrings or a bag and then move on to a top of a dress! Also pick a color you love to start, one of my favourites is magenta!
3. Be Confident!
If you’re wearing a vibrant piece people will be looking at you! Whenever I wear this dress I get a lot of stares! Try to embrace it because bright colors are gorgeous and so are you!
