To be able to enjoy the entire process, smooth planning is key.   You want to be able to enjoy your new home right when you move in.

In this post, we’ll discuss a few tips that can help you achieve that.  Additionally what pitfalls to look out for, and what services are worth investing in, so you can guarantee a smooth move.

It’s All About The Movers

Not all moving services are alike.  Some may be able to offer worthwhile insurance packages while some may be excellent at interstate moving.

Hiring movers can easily make your move stress free.  There are even movers that will completely pack up your current residence and then drop off all of your boxes.  Some even unpack for you!  Depending on your budget, there are a lot of ways you can get some extra help.

Organize the contents of your boxes

Make sure you have a system when packing.  A great tip is to name the boxes by related room like “kitchen” or “bedroom”.  That way when you move you know what room to put all of the boxes in.  This will make the unpacking process go a lot faster.

Give Yourself A Couple Days To Access The Home

There are a couple of additional things you need to consider when moving into a new house.

You’ll need to set up services like water, hydro, garbage and internet (to name a few).  You’ll also want to become a little more familiar with the local area.

Having access to your new home before your move can help you get everything set up.  That way, all you have to worry about after is cleaning and organizing.

Have Someone Open Up The New Home Ahead Of Time

It can be helpful to have a friend, relative or partner head to the new home to air it out.  If the home has been on the market for some time you’ll want to get some fresh air circulating.

If you’ve hired a moving company, having a friend of family member at the new home waiting for when they arrive can relieve some stress as well.  It’s always hard to know where everything will be placed so having someone coordinate can be extremely helpful.

This is not a time to declutter

You might be tempted to de-clutter your home as you move and pack however this can cause a lot of additional stress and time.  Moving is incredibly time consuming, which is easy to forget.

If you would like to de-clutter, I recommend doing this as you unpack.  You’re not on a time limit and can properly go through all of your things.

We hope you learned some tricks on how to plan a smooth move into a new home.  Moving can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be!  If you follow the tips in this article your move is sure to be more enjoyable.
